Gangs in Prisons
Canada’s prison system is facing with an increase of gangs which is fueling violence and drug trade behind bars and crime on the street. There was a 44% increase of gang members in federal prisons during the last five years. A majority of prison violence is gang-related, where nearly all ethnic groups are represented. Gangs control the drug trade inside of most prisons, which leads to violent conflict between gangs which are trying to enlarge or maintain their customer base.
ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS GANG "THE ARYAN BROTHERHOOD"
The Aryan brotherhood is a white prison gang that
was formed in 1967, San Quentin prison in California with about 15,000 members
in and out of prison. This gang was initially formed for protection of whites
against black in prison, and now this gang gradually moved to performing criminal
activities. This is a ruthless gang who regularly murder those
who oppose the system, growing so out of control at times, that even their own
members could not consider themselves safe.
